Lava Blaze X 5G

Lava Blaze X 5G: India’s midrange smartphone market has long been ruled by global giants such as Xiaomi, Realme and Samsung. But in recent years, Indian manufacturer Lava has been generating buzz by selling straightforward, value-packed phones with clean software and decent hardware.

Their latest release, the Lava Blaze X 5G, is set to bolster that impression even more.

With a curved display, a powerful processor for its category, and great design and user experience, the Blaze X 5G demonstrates that a “Made in India” phone doesn’t have to cut corners to keep up.

Design and Build

It is safe to say that when we first saw the Blaze X 5G, one of the things that impressed us the most was the design plain and straight. — Instead of keeping with a flat panel like many rivals, Lava has opted for a curved-edge AMOLED screen, something rarely found at this price.

Gives the phone a premium look, feel, makes it gorgeous and stylish; You will love it once you get it.

The glossy back panel looks smooth, and also comes in fashionable color options such as Starlight Purple and Titanium Grey. The camera module is circular and well-integrated, and it looks modern without being excessively designed.

Despite having a 3D curved glass and a large screen, the Blaze X is surprisingly light and handy to use.

The build quality feels good, and nothing really feels cheap or fragile.

Display and Visual Experience

The Blaze X 5G has a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate. It’s bright, sharp and smooth to navigate.

Scrolling, animations and app transitions are snappy and the display works well in bright sunlight, with reasonable peak brightness levels.

Whether you’re watching videos, swiping through social media, or simply scrolling through your photo gallery, the screen is satisfyingly immersive.

Such panel is an uncommon sight in the sub ₹15,000 segment and this is where the Blaze X gains a fair edge.

Performance and Software

The Blaze X 5G, under the hood is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 6020 SoC, coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 128GB UFS 2.2 storage. It also comes with virutal RAM expansion of up to 8GB, depending upon configuration.

In practice, the phone feels snappy in multitasking, app loading and light gaming. All the casual titles like Subway Surfers and BGMI (on medium settings) run fine without any frame drops.

It’s not a gaming beast, but handling all the other tasks of everyday use, it can.

Lava’s one strength is the unsullied Android interface. The phone also includes clean Android 13, sans bloatware or ads.

No annoying notifications or apps that get added without your permission — just a clean, basic UI that runs very smoothly.

Camera Setup

On the rear, it has 64MP main camera along with 2MP secondary sensor. In good light, the main camera captures good detail and colour, though dynamic range can sometimes be lacking.

Photos in low light bring some noise yet Night Mode does alleviate it to a degree.

The front camera is 16 megapixels and takes a nice selfie, with good skin tones and sharpness for the money. Camera app is very easy to use with some basic AI tweaks and filters.

Battery Life and Charging

Blaze X 5G is powered by a 5,000mAh battery which definitely lasts an entire day of fairly heavy use. Whether browsing social media, streaming a video or using GPS, don’t expect to reach for the charger very often.

It supports 33W fast charging, and the charger that comes with the phone can juice it up from 0 to 100% in just about an hour. Nothing fancy, but it gets the job done.
