Motorola Edge 50 Pro

Motorola Edge 50 Pro : The Motorola Edge 50 Pro will be a part of company’s big premium smartphone plans and also come equipped with 125W fast charging (a world’s first) along with 4500mAh battery.

This pairing has introduced something that has been one of the biggest pain points for smartphone users over the past decade – battery anxiety – all while providing flagship quality features in a delightful-looking package.

Charger Technology Improvement

The most impressive aspect of the Edge 50 Pro is its blazingly fast 125W TurboPower charging, which raises the bar in the industry.

This charging is able to charge the 4500mAh battery from 0-50% in 7 minutes only and from 10-100% in 18-20 minutes.

Motorola gives you the 125W GaN charger in the box, a welcome relief in an era when many rivals are deleting chargers from the packaging.

The heat management is advanced its a vapour chamber cooling system along with multiple temperature sensors to avoid over-heating when you rapidly charge the phone.

The battery adopts a design of dual cells to help divide the charging load, reduce temperature and pack aging. Motorola claims the battery will still hold 80% battery capacity after 1000 charge cycles.

3.4 Battery Performance and Charge Efficiency

It also does very well on battery life, despite a relatively low-capacity 4500mAh battery compared to some rivals that have batteries of 5000mAh or more, this very-efficient power management means the Edge 50 Pro is also an endurance champion.

The processor is efficient enough and with Motorola’s optimization, should provide most people with all-day battery life.

The device also supports 50W wireless charging as well as 15W reverse wireless charging (for accessories).

Premium Design and Display

Edge 50 Pro has a sleek and stylish design made of a curved glass back and aluminium frame and will be available in Midnight Blue, Pearl White and Vegan Leather Black.

The device is also a slim 7.8mm thick and weighs 178 grams; not bad considering the robust battery and charging peripherals.

On the front, you get a 6.7-inch pOLED with a 144Hz refresh rate, 2400×1080 resolution, and a peak brightness of 1300 nits.

Those edges are curved for an immersive viewing experience, and the display itself is HDR10+ and 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut.

The in-display fingerprint sensor and Gorilla Glass Victus protection also give the phone a more expensive feel.

Camera and Performance

The triple-lens setup features a 50MP main camera with OIS, 50MP ultra-wide camera with macro shooting modes, and a 12MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.

On the front, you do get a 32MP front camera with 4K video taking capabilities. Camera functions are AI-scene optimization, a dedicated night mode, and Pro controls for enthusiasts.

Performance is handled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC alongside up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.

These together assure consistent multitasking, gaming, heavy apps are used without any lag.

Software and Features

With close-to-stock Android 14 and Motorola’s My UX overlay, the software experience is clean and free of bloat. Motorola is pledging three years of OS updates and four years of security patches.

Other features include Ready For desktop mode, Dolby Atmos stereo speakers, IP68 water resistance, and ultra-wide 5G band support.

Pricing and Availability at Launch

Motorola Edge 50 Pro Verdict

The launch of the Motorola Edge 50 Pro puts it in a good position to be the best alternative flagship; that 125w charger is a real game changer for those who don’t like to be waiting on a charge.

The 4500mAh battery size may not be overly impressive, however with such fast charging, battery anxiety should be a thing of the past for anyone who opts for this, and as such, it could be a perfect phone for a power user, or anyone fed up of having to charge their phone regularly.
