Realme GT 2 : Realme, the brand not afraid to push limits in the mid-range, takes it up a notch with the Realme GT 2. A notch below flagship, it manages to provide a combination of solid performance, good looks and a few quirky features — particularly at its price point. So, is the GT 2 just another spec-heavy phone, or can it really offer that all-round experience?
Let’s break it down.
The Look: Eco Meets Elegance
The first thing that jumps out at you about the GT 2 is its planet-friendly attitude. Realme has employed a bio-polymer back panel inspired by paper, which offers a unique texture and is also friendlier to the environment.
The back end is soft but solid and is fingerprint-resistant — a pragmatic plus.
For a 194g phone, it doesn’t feel particularly heavy, and the slim body contributes to a comfortable in-hand feel. It’s also got a clean, minimal design with subtle branding, and a premium feeling that makes it look much more expensive than its price-tag. It’s not IP-rated, so that might be a miss for some, but the build overall feels durable and well-made.
Display: Smooth and Sharp
On the front, you have a 6.62-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution.
It’s a lovely panel: There’s strong contrast, punchy colors and smooth scrolling — great no matter if you’re browsing YouTube or gaming.
Idc about it being hard to use outside, the HDR10+ support and 1300 nits is a blessing. Crisp, colorful and immersive, these visuals hold up whether you’re binge watching or just cruising around for something to watch.
The in-display fingerprint sensor is fast and accurate too.
Performance: Flagship System in a Mid-Range Body
Under the hood, the Realme GT 2 gets Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 processor which is a powerhouse even today. Paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, performance here is snappy and responsive.
Apps fly out of the gate, multitasking is a breeze, and games play like a dream.
Whether inside Genshin Impact or PUBG Mobile, the device works well, with the help of the stainless steel vapor cooling system effectively controlling heat.
The phone runs Realme UI 3.0 over Android 12, which is clean, customizable and fast — though with some bloatware in tow.
Camera: Good with the main camera, OK elsewhere
The photography hardware is led by a Sony IMX766 50MP sensor with OIS, which can take sharp and detailed pictures in the right light. Dynamic range is outstanding, and colors are pleasing — albeit not too over-boosted, as can happen with high-saturation modes and skin tones.
Low-light performance is pretty good as well, and the night mode does well to reduce noise and improve detail.
But the 8MP ultra-wide camera and 2MP macro lens are lackluster. The ultra-wide shots can be detail-scarce in the edges, and the macro camera feels mostly like a box checking feature.
Average performance from the 16MP front camera — it is decent for selfies and video calls, but nothing exceptional.
Battery and Charging: Fast and Efficient
The Realme GT 2 provides strong all-day endurance (and then some) with its 5,000mAh battery, even with heavier usage.
You get 65W SuperDart fast charging, which is fantastic and can charge your phone to full in 35 minutes. There’s no wireless charging, but at this price fast wired charging makes up for the lack.
Pros:
Stylish, sustainable design
Vivid, fluid 120Hz AMOLED screen
Top-tier performance means a Snapdragon 888
Great primary camera with OIS
the fast charge (it’s a 65W number) is fast and reliable
Solid battery life
Cons:
Ultrawide and macro cameras are mediocre
No water/dust resistance (IP rating)
Some pre-loaded apps on Realme UI
No wireless charging support
Realme GT 2 Verdict: Smart Buy for the Power User
The Realme GT 2 evidences a successful compromise between power and practicality. It’s slick, snappy and just polished enough that it feels near-flagship: and not at a price that’s much closer to the ones you can pay for the very best.
Provided you can look past the so-so secondary cameras and the fact it lacks an IP rating, it’s a phone that offers genuinely good power on a budget.
